Huret Jubilee Rear Derailleur
"This jewel was standard issue on my black Raleigh Competition. I mowed yards all summer to pay for that bike, then rode through the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge every chance I got—usually with my friend David, who rode a handsome white-and-yellow Raleigh RRA. As we climbed the little road away from Lost Lake, we rode between a mama buffalo on one side of the road and her calf on the other. The calf bleated, then the mama bellowed and gave chase! We stood up and sprinted as we felt the rumble of hooves on the pavement. Lucky for us, the mama buffalo shortly left us and went back to her baby."
Jon Grant has worked as an illustrator, designer, and printer all of his professional life. He is fascinated with riding and the mechanical aspects of classic bicycles, so naturally, he can’t resist drawing them. We offer prints of his original ink drawings here.
